SOMESHA Concerns her member’s Journalists Harassments

The Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) is vigilant by observing the ongoing her members’ threats and intimidations while Abdullahi Omar Ibrahim was the last professional member been threatened and forced to flee from Somalia.

Member journalist Abdidullahi Omar Ibrahim runs after when unidentified men maliciously attacked another member journalist Hanad Ali Gulled on June 23, 2021, while the unidentified men attacked him was four. It was around evening night when the attackers met him near his home in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district and the men confronted him, threatened to kill him, and stamped and jolted him all over his body by knives.

Obviously, it was on May 22, 2021 when the Secretary General of SOMESHA fled from Somalia due to constant threats and intimidations from Shabab and the government linked armed militia’s though he is currently is living at Kampala, Uganda as exile.

The President of the Supreme council of the Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) Mr. Bashir Mohamed Abdilkadir calls the government to investigate the case for journalists in Somalia in order to ensure their security.

SOMESHA promised to help if the monitoring groups from the UN, Federal government and the International Human Rights organizations if they needs any further assistance in order to settle the prolonged unrest violence and intimidations against Somali media professionals.
