The Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) was actively been a member of many civil society organizations, community initiatives and ordinary groups who come to gather at 350 portal on April 09-11, 2021 and showed many of the intersecting ways people are calling for this decisive action: from union organizing to feminist solutions for climate impacts, and many more other campaigns.
The participants declared “At 350.org, we want to end the age of fossil fuels and stop climate breakdown, but the pandemic has shown the world that many of the crises we face today are interrelated: wealth inequality, racism, and ecological decline among them. These crises were in place long before COVID-19, and now risk being intensified”.
“That’s why thousands of activists came together at the Gathering, and why we want to share five grounding principles for a just recovery. “This is a time to be decisive in saving lives and bold in charting a path to a genuinely healthier and more equitable future through a just recovery”. They have added as well
The Secretary General of SOMESHA H. E. Mr. Daud Abdi Daud Dimbil was actively attended the events through online and shared Somali community perspectives and the current climate pandemic situation for covid-19.
During the events Mr. Daud dictated that “Together, we can build unified pressure to end fossil finance, which will keep fossil fuels in the ground, and stay within 1.5 degrees of warming for our planet. The opportunity to transform our world with a just recovery and resilient and clean energy economy has never been greater”.
“We have to enlarge our experiences, efforts and knowhow for 350 network and remember as well past 350 powerful events in this world such like 2010 event in which I was a part of and know again that 350.org is an international movement of ordinary people working to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy for all”. Mr. Daud added
