We advise the federal government of Somalia and the member states and the independent media on the role of regulators to help ensure balance between freedom of expression and legislation. We also do promoting ethical standards within journalism are at the heart of everything we do.

Civil society and the media

We work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and UN agencies to help develop media advocacy skills and to better understand how to work with the media and ‘package’ information for journalists strengthening the role of civil society in the country or regional states concerned.

SOMESHA PCVE INTENTIONS & INVOLVEMENTS

Despite Somalia has had a renewed VE problems in a daily bases since in 1990, the Somali government has developed policies, most notably the National Strategy and Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, which was adopted in September 2016.

The Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) is currently active member and closely involved the PCVE projects in Somalia by working very closely with IGAD center for excellence, UN agencies and the civil society at large….Continue reading
